In the Fall of 2001 I confessed and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. The most transformative part of the experience was that for the first time in my life I was interested in knowing what God’s Word (The Bible) said about how I was supposed to live and conduct myself to glorify God. In the process of learning about myself as God sees me, I learned how I was supposed to see Him. From that moment, my personal spiritual interest has been to help others foster a scholastic and spiritual desire to understand God’s Word with clarity.
It is my hope that this podcast and website will be a valuable resource to others as I continue to grow in the transformative knowledge of Jesus Christ and share what God teaches me in His word. The primary source of these recordings is a small Sunday School class I teach at my home church of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Woodstock, GA. The name for this podcast comes from a set of bible verses that sets the direction of a person's life once they realize the graciousness of God in one's salvation:
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will.
We are urged to be living sacrifices – lives given daily for the honor, glory and worship of God. The result of sacrificing the efforts of our lives unto God will be true and proper worship of God.
Verse 2 is the title verse for the podcast. Paul makes a differentiation between the “pattern of this world” and the “good, pleasing and perfect will” of God. As Christians we aspire to know and subsequently carry out God's will for our lives. Paul's states that the way we abandon a worldly perspective and become transformed to live as Christians is by the renewing of our minds.
My belief and experience is that the only way to transform our minds is by studying and developing an understanding of God's written will...the Word Of God. That goal of clarity and understanding is the central focus of this podcast.
